Our Story: The history of the Waterworks
Locals knew about The Waterworks a long time before it became The Waterworks. The Oglivie family farm was part of the Coromandel local landscape. A secluded farm on the banks of the Waiau River, for generations a local meeting place for families to spend the summer holidays.
The farm was sold to its current owner in 2005, together with a crew of dedicated, fun loving and proudly Coromandel locals. They have built what we see today.
From a swimming hole, a swing and a playground has been developed into the Wackest, Quirkiest and Funest eco friendly theme park in New Zealand.
The Waterworks doesn’t compete with its idyllic surroundings, it compliments it.
